3:14 pm - A couple notes..
I have an october break coming up, and I decided I didn't want to stay around here in my dorm room all break. especially while half the school will be out of town.
So then I thought, I should visit the people I love!
Amy's parent weekend is at the same time, so that didn't work.

So it's come down to home, or wisconsin.
Wisconsin would be way cheaper, becasue I could fly into Chicago and borrow my Grandma's car.
and I'd get to see Miles who I miss like crazy

But then, at home I'd get to see a Football game, see more than one person that I miss like crazy there, and my mom would be so excited she'd pay for the whole thing.

But the wisconsin idea continues to nag me. Especially since two days after I would return, my dad and brother are flying out.. so yeah.

THEN I got this brilliant idea to go to both places! because to fly from here to home and back you ALWAYS have to stop in Chicago. So I thought I could just delay the layover in Chicago, drive up and see Miles, then go back to school. It would basically only be 50 more dollars, and I'd be getting two trips out of the deal. But that would be a LONG 6 days, and SO much travelling... and I would end up seeing Mile's on a school day which might be bad.

What should I do?

11:52 am - Oh man you guys..
I'm having the hardest time concentrating on the work I'm supposed to be doing because I'm so damn excited about it. I just love everything I'm learning about, and all the ideas I'm coming up with so much, that I can't sit still. I keep finding myself jumping around the room bursting with new information, and wanting to know the other information from the other classes.

I'm trying to write this paper about the Samba tradition, and black culture in Brazil after the were freed from enslavement. and how Samba helped them build a strong community, and keep their culture alive.
But every new opinion the springs from my mind distracts me from the actual task.

I'm supposed to be in class in 40 minutes, and I'm sitting here in my underwear, unshowered, with more pages of information than I needed to produce. And about a thousand more things to put down.

And I only read the first 100 pages of the book...

I'm loving life right now. and so is Albert Einstein. who's here next to me smoking his pipe and writing ideas of his own. (see two entries ago if you think I'm a lunatic. hehe)

I better go wrap the paper up.

And get dressed.

9:20 pm - wonderful
my orientation group, after returning from backpacking, went to go plant trees this afternoon. We then decided we must go try out "Flavors" an ice cream shop at a local dairy farm. After walking through a corn field (which you do a lot of for short cuts here it turns out) we came to a small road. There was a truck coming so Nora (Harrington, for those of you who know or remember her) stuck out her thumb and the trucker agreed to give us a ride. So we all climb in the back of the truck filled with corn and rode to the dairy farm. The ice cream was AMAZING. Like, so freaking amazing I still don't believe it. Anyone, and everyone who visits me must go there with me. We hung out in the field of the farm eating ice cream, then walked back.
I talked to a girl about sociology, writing, and weirdness of families. until it got awkward because it was obvious my family was WAY weirder than she expected to hear. hehe

It's so gorgeous here. I've never seen such a green field.

I'll post a picture

More later, there's too much to say, I have to do it in spirts

current mood: starting to relax?

8:40 pm - I'm one of THEM as Miles says.
so.. because it was easier and cheaper than having long distance on the phone in my room, I now have a cell phone.
Though it is slightly awesome, because I can take pictures with it and email them to people. which will be very handy now that I'm so far away from so many people.

So, if you don't mind long distance charges (for those of you who aren't nearby) you should give me a call sometime! and those of you who are nearby better call even more.

the number is (413) 687-2218
my room phone number is (413) 559-4721 BTW

expect pictures when I figure out how to send them exactly.

I'm also now a memeber of the Florence Saving Bank; independent and locally owned since 1873.

It's all very exciting.

Love you all so much. I move in tomorrow!

12:09 am - Still adjusting to this whole "EST" thing.
So, I realized that I'm going to continue to have problems adjusting to the time zone if I don't stop looking at the clock then immediately subtracting 3 hours to translate it into "real time".

thanks for your support everyone., especially ash who made me feel not so alone. I'm feeling weird now, but much better than before.

Time to try to start adjusting to the time zone (I went to Slovenia for 2 weeks last summer and never adjusted a bit, I'm a bit worried about this.. I may run this whole semester on west coast time..hehe)

current mood: I couldn't even begin to tell you.

11:50 pm - Creepy
I just got this note from my mom saying "don't eat or drink anything, you have to have a blood test tomorrow. Call me at work, and I'll explain"

I wonder why I suddenly need a blood test... I was just at the doctor last week.

CREEPY.

I can donate blood, but needles for any other reason scare the hell out of me. At 18 years old I still sometimes need to be practically held down for shots.

Side note: In 10 minutes I'll technically be leaving tomorrow.
wow.

RENT was amazing!

I am so incredibly tired that I keep wanting to kill anyone who talks to me.
Even when I talk to myself in my head.

I think I should sleep

Lots of people to see tomorrow.

PS. I'm now completely braces free.

We tried to go to Canada today. Then.. we failed. hahaha

The suburban actually was the one that failed. Right at the doctor's office. And can't be fixed until tomorrow.

So amy came to our rescue, and I finally got the hiking shoes I needed. Thanks SO much Amy.

I'm leaving for Colville tomorrow. Where it will be, get this, 101 degrees tomorrow.

I'm a little nervous about the trip (7 hours and 1 minute to get there all by myself!) but also VERY excited to be out on my own, and seeing Kimberley after so long. It'll be awesome I'm sure

Then I get back on Monday night, go to the doctor Tuesday morning, then immediately leave for a week in CANADA! yay! of fishing and kayaking and hiking and other stuff. I'm so excited. I which we had done it earlier in the summer, and weren't getting back just 4 days before I leave. But it'll be great just the same.

Then I get back on the 24th, when Miles is also returning from dc! so I'm kidnapping him that night (or maybe the next morning) for my last remaining days here, because man am I going to miss him! And everyone else, who hopefully I will see on those days as well!

I'll probably update when I get back from colville before I leave for camping.

I love you all so much.
